We are always striving to improve internal processes and noise protection for local residents.
Especially in busy summer months, east winds frequently cause holding patterns in the downwind-approach sectors. Unfortunately, this is often to the detriment of residents living near the airport. The reason is the not always advantageous structural situation of the taxiways: the existing taxiway "Bravo" runs parallel to the runway but ends in its middle as a roll-up possibility to the runway. This results in aircraft blocking the runway by taxiing back to the end of the runway, during which time no aircraft on approach may complete a landing.

In order to remedy the situation, but to keep interference with nature to a minimum and not to seal any areas, we have decided to extend the "Bravo" taxiway to the threshold of Runway 08 by means of a grass taxiway. In this way, we provide relief for internal operations and thus create more noise protection through more flexible coordination by air traffic control in the tower.
The grass taxiway "Charlie" was executed with Perfo anchor plates and rolled into the existing grass strip. Thus, the grass can continue to grow and also the rainwater can run off as usual.
From 01.11.2023 the new grass taxiway "Charlie" will be officially put into operation and will be available for pilots after instruction and release by the air traffic control of our tower.
