Hof-Plauen Airport is the only commercial airfield in Germany to have approved dual operations: In addition to regular air traffic, automobile tests can be carried out in parallel on a test track set up specifically for this purpose - and without any major restrictions!
Test track, multilane, flight operation areas
An ideal environment to perform your test drives in a relaxed and undisturbed atmosphere.
The test facilities are designed as follows:
Test track
A test track with a length of 780 meters offers ideal conditions for your automotive tests!
(asphalt quality & friction values comparable to pavement on highways)
Multilane
The 2,600 m² multifunctional area (multilane) is ideal for simulating colissions and traffic in a wide variety of scenarios!
Joint use of flight operation areas
In addition, there is the optional possibility of using flight operation areas as well, provided that the air traffic situation permits and the tower issues a corresponding clearance.
However, since this involves areas relevant to air traffic control , prior clearance must be obtained from the tower personnel by radio before any use can commence. The procedure is communicated to the external personnel during a briefing by airport personnel prior to the start of test operations and confirmed in a protocol. During the test operation, the external personnel have their own radio channel for internal communication with each other.
There is no legal claim to permanent use/rental, as flight operations have priority!

Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Operational safety
During the opening hours of the airport, the internal airport fire department provides fire protection and rescue services for the test operation. In addition, prior to the start of operations on site, airport personnel will provide detailed instructions on how to behave, how to conduct the test operation, and how to use the radio. The personnel also provide support for individual requests.

For operational reasons, our test facilities can only be rented on a daily basis. A purely hourly rental is not possible. We ask for your understanding.
